Creating Configurable Product
Go to Catalog (1) >> Manage Products (2) and then click on the Add Product button (3).
From the Attribute Set dropdown, select the attribute set you’ve just created (1) and from the Product Type dropdown, select Configurable product (2) and click the Continue button.
If everything was set correctly when creating attributes and attribute set, you should have the attribute you wanted available on this page. Check the checkmark (1) next to attribute name, and click the Continue button.
the name of the product as well as all other info related to the product in question.
Enter price and tax class, and optionally special price, as well as meta information.
Upload and assign images for this configurable product.
To enable the usage of color swatches on this product, select Yes (1) from the dropdown in the ColorSwatch tab.
To enable the usage of zoom script on this product, select Yes (2) from the dropdown in the ColorSwatch tab.
Set the inventory options for your product.
Be sure to click the Save and Continue Edit button before you go to Associated Products tab.
On the Associated Products tab you need to create simple products via Quick simple product creation box, which will represent option/values for your configurable product. Select the first attribute option/value from the attribute drop down box (1), fill in the rest of the options and click Quick Create button. New simple product will be created. Please repeat this process for each of the attribute option/values that you want to be available on your configurable product.
Once done, click the Save and Continue Edit button in the upper right corner of the page.
All your simple products should be visible in the lower part of the Associated Products tab page.
If you want Magento Color Swatch extension to change the main image of your product once swatch options are clicked on the public side of the website, you should upload images to each of the simple product that represent attribute options/values, by clicking on the Edit (1) link next to each of the simple products.
In the pop up window that will appear, click on the Images tab and then upload images for this attribute option/value. Please be sure to click the radio button to mark the main image next to the image you want to be presented as the main image for that attribute options/value. All the other images that you uploaded to this simple product will appear in the more views part of the public page.
Do this step for each of the simple products.
Once this is done, click the Save button to save all the changes you made to Configurable product and Simple products.
